Reasons for Device Pairing Failure and How to Fix Them
This guide helps you troubleshoot common issues when your device fails to pair or connect to Wi-Fi.
Q1: What to do if the device fails to add for the first time
Check whether the device's green indicator light is blinking. If the status light is not blinking green, use a pin to gently press the configuration hole or press and hold the reset button until the indicator light starts blinking.
The green blinking light indicates that the device is in pairing mode and ready to connect.
Q2: Determine whether the binding failure is caused by router settings
1. The router has been set up to prevent Wi-Fi squatting
If the Wi-Fi network the device is trying to connect to has anti-squatting settings (such as blacklist/whitelist or MAC address filtering), the device may not be able to connect to the internet. Please disable such settings on your router.
2. The router is set up with 5GHz band wireless Wi-Fi
The device does not support connecting to 5GHz Wi-Fi networks. Please open the router management page (usually listed on the label at the bottom of the router), go to the 2.4GHz wireless settings, and make sure it is enabled.
Most smart home devices only support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Make sure your 2.4GHz network is enabled and you're connecting to the correct network.
Q3: Check whether the mobile phone prohibits the APP from using data, WLAN, GPS permissions
Some Android phones may restrict the app from using mobile data, WLAN, or GPS, which can prevent the device from connecting to Wi-Fi.
Solution (for Android phones):
Go to your phone's Settings → tap App Management → enable permissions for data, WLAN, and GPS.
Q4: Make sure that the Wi-Fi account and password are filled in correctly
It's highly likely that the Wi-Fi SSID or password you entered is incorrect, causing the device to fail to connect. Pay special attention to:
- Spaces at the beginning or end of the password
- Unusual or special characters in the Wi-Fi name or password
- Case sensitivity of the password
Q5: Other questions
1. Bridge mode issues
If the router is set to bridge mode, the unstable Wi-Fi signal may cause connection failure. We do not recommend using bridge-mode Wi-Fi for device connection.
2. Static IP assignment (Campus/Enterprise users)
If you are a campus or enterprise user, and your school or company provides internet via static IP assignment, where users must manually enter IP details to get online, please note: the device does not support static IP configuration. You'll need to use a different Wi-Fi connection.
3. Enterprise encryption not supported
The device does not support WPA/WPA2 Enterprise encryption. It supports:
- WEP
- WPA-PSK
- WPA2-PSK
- Open Wi-Fi
If you are in an enterprise network environment, please confirm that the encryption type is supported by the device before attempting to connect.
4. Contact customer service
Due to the complexity of router settings and actual network environments, if the above steps do not resolve the issue, please contact our official customer service for further assistance.
